Advisory Board

Advisory Board is due here in a day or so, here are my thoughts on that so far--thinking in categorical terms

Fitness--the ownder and co owner of The Green Microgym with the electricity generating equip--Adam Boessel and Ryand Barr--and i think they will say yes

A Healer and or Yoga/Dance Expert--caroline Myss?--any thoughts on that Kaitlyn?

Psychology--need a decent named psychologist-I know some local in Fredericskburg--but probably want a seattle based

Naturopathic Medicine--someone from Bastyr--

Green Real Estate--would like to invite the owner of Green works realty who was at our first intensive--i think he will say yes as well.

Lawyer

Banker

Accountant

Fill in the blank here guys--your thoughts?

  1. I agree someone from Bastyr would be great for their seattle connections.
Not sure on how to approach the legal and accounting side of things. In the non-profit world we used to approach professionals who supported/agreed with our mission, I'm probably going to attend the upcoming "Green Drinks" on Feb 12 in Seattle. I'll see if i bump shoulders with any professionals who would be interested in this concept. Seems like that circle would be supportive.

  4. After perusing Art of the Start, I think we want advisors who have expertise and/or connections. So if we have immediate questions about law, finance, etc. I think between all of us we could throw together a list of personal contacts. Long-term we need to schmooze and get those that will be able to open doors for us. For the assignment I like the idea of compiling a list of people that are directly connected to our "industry." Bastyr U. is a great pool. I'll research investment bankers that might be interested. Also, law firms that specialize in startup issues. Or Paul Allan could probably be all the advisors into one, since he seems to be running south lake union:) We could also approach someone from Amazon (in Human Resources, etc) or any other large company around the neighborhood. More specifics to come.

  11. It sounds like you might need a corporate solicitor, who specializes in incorporating companies and drafting business contracts.

I work in civil litigation, and specialize in construction, transportation, personal injury, and surety work. Essentially, I'm on the suing/court side of things, as opposed to the contract drafting/desk side of things. I represent both plaintiffs and defendants. Having said that, I have a broad and general understanding of some other legal concepts and would be glad to help out, but would not be able to give a legal opinion in areas outside of my expertise (because the Law Society would disbar me and you'd be better off getting advise from someone with expertise in the relevant field).

If you think I could help, then pls. feel free to put me down as a 'yes' for the beginning stages, but as this project takes off, I suspect that I may have to point you in the direction of a corporate lawyer. Call me anytime -
